About Lara

Before becoming a coach, I worked in the police service for over 17 years and held the rank of Chief Inspector. As a senior police officer, I was responsible for engaging with many different audiences. It was important to me that communities felt listened to and that they could trust me to take the issues impacting them seriously and make steps towards improvement.

Amongst other things, I was responsible for supporting communities following serious crime and national incidents and working with those affected by stop and search, knife violence, gun, and gang crime.

This experience gave me a real passion and understanding for building trust, collaboration, and community. This led me to lead engagement with MPs and their staff in the Members’ and Members Staff Services Team (MMSST) in the House of Commons.

I focused on creating a feeling of inclusion within the Parliamentary community, particularly for MPs’ staff by connecting Westminster and the constituency. I was responsible for fostering collaboration and connection amongst many different groups within Parliament and for spearheading the introduction of reforms that improved the working condition of MPs’ staff. I was also responsible for         introducing a weekly engagement forum for senior MPs staff and working collaboratively with the House of Commons Library to     introduce the MPs’ Caseworkers’ Forum, delivering regional roadshows in the constituency, and running the first fair dedicated exclusively to MPs’ staff.

Most recently Lara worked for IPSA (Independent Parliamentary Standards Authority) as a Stakeholder Engagement Lead.
